How to Draw A Fancy Letter U
As mentioned in the guide, the letter U is relatively easy to write. To make it even more complicated, one of the tricks we will use is adding some spiral shapes.
With the first of these, we start this guide. This spiral shape runs to the left tip of the letter.
Since this is a unique take on the letter U, it might help to pencil it in first.
This pencil guide doesn’t have to be shaped like the final drawing to ensure the correct shape.
Once you’re done, let’s start drawing the first spiral. We’ll keep it straightforward for direct, and you draw a meandering line.
It will be shaped like a loose number 6, turned slightly on its side. Try to observe the contact picture as closely as possible, as the angle will make a difference later. Once you have this beginning of the spiral bloom, we can move on to step two of the guide.
This second step is easy! We continue where the previous line left off.
It simply drops a vertical line that moves to the bottom of the image, as shown in the reference image. This will form the left arm of the letter.
The line will not be straight; we want a slight curve and waviness. Try not to make it too drastic, as we still want to keep it relatively simple.
As shown in our example, the base of the letter bends quite a bit to the right. Once you have drawn a pencil plan for the letter, you will see how it relates to the drawing as a whole.
Now that we have this stripe, you are prepared for step three of the guide. In this step, we’ll add the rest of the outline for the entire letter, so that’s a big step! Let’s start the third step once you’re ready.
It’s all coming together in this third step of your awesome letter U. There’s a lot to talk about in this step, so let’s take it slow and break it up into smaller steps.
In this guide, let’s first come full circle and start this step with the first spiral line. Starting where the line ends, we draw a pointed tip.
So we will spiral out of the line and parallel to that first line. This converts it from a spiral line to a spiral shape.
The top line of this spiral shape then curves down and steeply down so that it’s parallel to the body of the letter you drew in step 2.
It curves to the right in the middle and then back up in a vertical line. It then rolls up and dives down again.
At the base, we’ll add a pointed shape at the bottom right of the letter for a fun twist. With that, the pattern is complete!
This may all sound complicated, but it can be pretty simple if you follow the reference images and steps. When that’s done, you can erase any pencil lines you used as a guide.
The letter U we drew looks fantastic, and currently, we choice cause it even more useful by counting some interior components.
We created a pattern with a wavy line across the letters in our sample. It’s a straightforward way to illustrate the message, but also very practical!
You can choose this template for your design and go for your template ideas.
However, we didn’t just limit ourselves to the wave pattern. We also drew some spiral lines starting from the information on the excellent flank of the letter.
It’s another simple gesture that adds a lot of personality to the drawing. If you like the look, you can add a few more of those spiral lines.
Make sure to add any other details you want before proceeding! Then, in the next step, we’ll add more fun details to the outside of the letter.
It’s nearly a juncture to add some shade to your artwork, but first, we must add more details. This time, they run along the outer edge of the letter.
First, we drew a series of tiny dots along the bottom edges of the letter. These are simple and vary in size, giving the letter a dynamic look.
You can add more of these spots in other areas if you like! Next, we counted some curved stripes along the outside edges of the letter.
Finally, we drew small teardrop shapes on the right arm of the letter. We’ve kept this simple touch minimal, but you should add more.
These are examples of minor details that you can add to the design. You can bring your thoughts and add other figures, features, and stripes to make it more personal.
These can also extend to the background of the image. You can try it first, but we have more wallpaper ideas in the next step and later.
